SURFconext cannot verify the configuration steps below as we are not a customer of this service provider. We have collected the information below from our connected instituions to the best of our knowledge. If you have remarks or tips you want to share, please send them to support@surfconext.nl.

When you want to connect your WebEx site to SURFconext you need to configure WebEx for SSO. Follow these steps:

Note: We've experienced some issues when using the Chrome browser on MacOSX, most notably the upload of the SURFconext metadata did not work. When you encounter this, please use a different browser.

  1. Login to WebEx site administration and under "Manage Site" select the "SSO configuration" page
  2. As the Federation Protocol, select SAML 2.0
  3. Select "Import SAML metadata" and select the SURFconext metadata. You can download this metadata here. Some fields will now be prefilled.
  4. Configure the following fields manually:
Make the "WebEx SAML Issuer (SP ID)" unique for your site. Set it to something like "https://<your-site-name>.webex.com"
A summary of these settings for the SURFnet WebEx site can be seen in the attached screenshot
  5. Contact SURFconext at support@surfconext.nl for the necessary SURFconext configuration steps.

For a detailed and up-to-date description of all SSO configuration options, see the Cisco WebEx Messenger Administration Guide and read the Single Sign-On part of the documentation.
