Om toegang te krijgen tot het SURFnet-netwerk Dashboard moeten eenmalig enkele stappen worden doorlopen. Hierna kunnen infraverantwoordelijken en infrabeheerders van instellingen het SURFnet-netwerk Dashboard gebruiken.
Stap 1: SURFconext-verantwoordelijke legt koppeling met SURFnet-netwerk Dashboard
De SURFconext-verantwoordelijke binnen de instelling moet eenmalig toestemming geven voor de koppeling van de IdP (identityprovider) met het SURFnet-netwerk Dashboard. Dit doet hij of zij als volgt:
- Log in op het SURFconext Dashboard via https://dashboard.surfconext.nl.
- Voer in de zoekbalk in: 'Netwerkdashboard | SURFnet'.
- Klik op 'Connect'. Hiermee gaat de SURFconext-verantwoordelijke akkoord met het vrijgeven van enkele attributen om het SURFnet-netwerk Dashboard te kunnen gebruiken.
- Accepteer de voorwaarden.
Zodra stap 1 uitgevoerd is, wordt de koppeling door het SURFconext-aansluitteam verzorgd. Dit kan maximaal 1 werkdag duren.
Geen aansluiting op SURFconext?
Als je instelling geen eigen aansluiting op SURFconext heeft, moet je gebruikmaken van de Social-ID/Onegini IdP. Je kunt dan stap 1 overslaan, en direct doorgaan met stap 2.
Stap 2: Instellingscontactpersoon kent rol 'infraverantwoordelijke' of 'infrabeheerder' toe
Het SURFnet-netwerk Dashboard is alleen toegankelijk voor gebruikers die in SURFnet Autorisatie Beheer de rol ‘infraverantwoordelijke’ of 'infrabeheerder' hebben. De instellingscontactpersoon (ICP) van de instelling kan deze rollen toewijzen aan 1 of meer gebruikers met een profiel in SURFnet Autorisatie Beheer, dan wel een profiel met deze rol aanmaken. De stappen hiervoor zijn:
- Ga naar SURFnet Autorisatie Beheer (via het SURFdashboard).
- Zorg dat 1 of meer collega's de rol 'infraverantwoordelijke' of 'infrabeheerder' hebben in SURFnet Autorisatie Beheer door:
- een nieuw profiel aan te maken; of
- bij een bestaand profiel de rol ‘infraverantwoordelijke’ of 'infrabeheerder' toe te voegen.
Daarna is het SURFnet-netwerk Dashboard beschikbaar via https://netwerkdashboard.surfnet.nl/login.php voor personen met de rol ‘infraverantwoordelijke’ of 'infrabeheerder', op voorwaarde dat de koppeling geactiveerd is door de SURFconext-verantwoordelijke.

To gain access to the SURFnet Network Dashboard, a number of steps need to be completed just once. After access has been arranged, infrastructure managers and infrastructure administrators of the institutions can use the SURFnet Network Dashboard.
Step 1: SURFconext manager sets up the link to the SURFnet Network Dashboard
The institution's SURFconext manager is required to grant permission once for the IdP (identity provider) link with the SURFnet Network Dashboard. This is accomplished by:
- Logging in to the SURFconext Dashboard via https://dashboard.surfconext.nl;
- Entering 'Network dashboard | SURFnet' in the search bar;
- Clicking on 'Connect'. In carrying out this action, the SURFconext manager agrees to release several attributes for using the SURFnet Network Dashboard;
- Accepting the conditions.
As soon as step 1 has been completed, the SURFconext connection team will create the link. This can take up to one working day.
No connection to SURFconext?
If your institution does not have its own connection to SURFconext, you will have to use the Social-ID/Onegini IdP. In that case you can skip step 1 and start with step 2.
Step 2: the institution contact person assigns the role of 'infrastructure manager' or 'infrastructure administrator'
The SURFnet Network Dashboard is only accessible to users that have the role of 'infrastructure manager' or 'infrastructure administrator' in SURFnet Authorisation Management. The institution contact person (ICP) can assign this role to one or more users with a profile in SURFnet Authorisation Management, or create a profile with this role. The institution contact person must:
- Go to SURFnet Authorisation Management (via the SURFdashboard);
- Ensure that one or more colleagues have the role 'infrastructure manager' or 'infrastructure administrator' in SURFnet Authorisation Management by:
- creating a new profile; or
- adding the role 'infrastructure manager' or 'infrastructure administrator' in the case of an existing profile.
The SURFnet Network Dashboard will then be available via https://netwerkdashboard.surfnet.nl/login.php for people with an ‘infrastructure manager’ or 'infrastructure administrator' role, provided the SURFconext manager has activated the link.
Note: setting up light paths in the second release of the SURFnet Network Dashboard, is only available for users with an 'infrastructure manager' role.
