After publishing your own metadata, you need to identify others within eduGAIN, such as other Identity Providers to allow access to your service. SURFnet provides an aggregate of all eduGAIN metadata through SURFconext on this location: https://wayfmetadata.surfnetsurfconext.nl/metadata/edugain/-downstream.xml. It contains all eduGAIN IdPs and SPs. This file serves as input for you Service Provider software, for instance to build a Discovery Page where users can select their Identity Provider to be used for logging in. We recommend you regularly fetch and update this metadata to make sure changes are processed in a timely manner. You are obviously free to choose your own interval; however, once every 24 hours seems to be a sensible average.
