The SURFconext VOOT is a web service and is hosted by SURFconext. With it, you can retrieve user, group memberships and group information from SURFconext. It is a REST web service which means that the subjects and actions you request are part of the URL you send. SURFconext VOOT will return the result as a JSON structure. SURFconext VOOT is a slimmed down version of OpenSocial, mostly aimed at retrieving group information. VOOT has it's own specification (see here).
