Step 1: SURFconext manager sets up the link to the SURF Network Dashboard

Since April 2020, this step can be skipped by SURF institutions. SURF Network Dashboard provides insight into the SURFinternet services, therefore it was decided to link all SURF connected IdPs to the SURF Network Dashboard (see also SURFconext news).

No connection to SURFconext?

If your institution does not have its own connection to SURFconext, you will have to use eduID. Create an eduID for your institution following these steps.

Step 2: Institutional contact person assigns the role of 'infrastructure manager' or 'infrastructure manager'

The SURF Network Dashboard is only accessible to users who have the Authorization role 'infraverantwoordelijke' or 'infrabeheerder' in SURFdashboard. The institutional contact person (ICP) or his deputy the institution representative can assign these roles to 1 or more users with a profile in SURF Dashboard, or create a new profile with this role. You can recognize the institutional contact person (ICP) or his deputy the institution representative in the SURF Dashboard by the focus area (Aandachtsgebied) 'instellingsbevoegde'.

The steps that the 'institution representative' will have to perform are:

  • Go to SURFdashboard.
  • Log in with SURFconext and select your IDP or eduID.
  • Search for the user
    • Add the role 'infrastructure manager' or 'infrastructure manager' to this existing profile
  • Or if no profile exists for the user yet
    • Create a new profile
    • Add the role "infrastructure manager" or "infrastructure manager" to this new profile
  • The user will receive an e-mail with a request to authorize the request. Click accept and the role will become active.

The SURF Network Dashboard will then be available via https://netwerkdashboard.surfnet.nl for the user with the new role of 'infraverantwoordelijke' or 'infrabeheerder'.
