This page will show you what steps to take to connect your Google G Suite instance to SURFconext.

  1. Google G Suite for Education is a set of cloud computing, productivity and collaboration tools, software and products developed by Google, first launched on August 28, 2006 as Google Apps for Your Domain. G Suite comprises Gmail, Hangouts, Calendar, and Currents for communication; Drive for storage; Docs, Sheets, Slides, Keep, Forms, and Sites for productivity and collaboration; and, depending on the plan, an Admin panel and Vault for managing users and the services. It also includes the digital interactive whiteboard Jamboard and the app development platform App Maker. You can use use it for collaboration and communication no matter where you are or which device you’re using. Tens of Millions of students, faculty, and staff in schools around the world use Google G Suite for Education.

Attributes

See the SURFconext Dashboard for SAML attribute requirements or read our attributes page. Google needs one attribute that identifies a user, this typically is on of the following or a combination of the following attributes:

  • urn:mace:dir:attribute-def:uid
  • urn:mace:dir:attribute-def:mail
  • urn:mace:terena.org:attribute-def:schacHomeOrganization
  • urn:mace:dir:attribute-def:eduPersonAffiliation

Choose them with care and relaese as few as possible to make Google G Suite work.

Single- or Multi-tenancy

Google G Suite is a single-tenant service. An institution will need to configure and maintain their own instance on SURFconext. You can do so using our SP Dashboard. Get in touch with us to get access to the SP Dashboard by sending a mail to support@surfconext.nl.
